Some Important Facts of Life

"I am trying to find myself" is an expression used to justify certain actions by those who are searching for some purpose and meaning to life.

One of life's greatest questions is: Why was I born? Perhaps you have asked yourself this question many times. Do you know the answer?

To find a life with purpose and meaning, there are some basic facts that you must know, and there is only one source for such information - THE BIBLE.

FACT NUMBER ONE: You must know that you were created by God. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." (Genesis 1:27)
"All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." (John 1:3)

FACT NUMBER TWO: You must know why you were created. "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him." (Colossians 1:16)
"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." (Revelation 4:11)
These verses establish the fact that you were created for God's pleasure. Now that we know that we are created by God, and for His pleasure, we must please God to find the real purpose and meaning for life. We are now faced with the most important question of life, what must we do to please Him? What is the first step?

FACT NUMBER THREE: The third fact you must know is what you are. In your present state, as far as God is concerned, you are dead. "For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead." (2 Corinthians 5:14)
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins." (Ephesians 2:1).
"Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ." Ephesians 2:5)
Why does God reckon you dead? "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned." (Romans 5:12)
"For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." (1 Corinthians 15:22)
We were all born in Adam. A person is a sinner, not by the sins he commits, but simply by being in Adam. God sees you as a sinner whether your sins are ever translated into acts or not. " . . . for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7)

FACT NUMBER FOUR: As long as you remain "in Adam," you are dead; and as long as you are dead you cannot please God. "So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God." (Romans 8:8)

FACT NUMBER FIVE: You must know and recognize the fact that before you can please God you must have life. "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John3:3)

FACT NUMBER SIX: You must know that this is NEW LIFE, not the old made over. "That which is born of the flesh is flesh," and will never be anything else. Moreover, this life cannot, of yourself, produce this life. "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us." (Titus 3:5)

FACT NUMBER SEVEN: You must understand that the NEW LIFE is a GIFT. "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ or Lord." (Romans 6:23)
"Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift." (2 Corinthians 9:15)

FACT NUMBER EIGHT: The gift of life must be received. God offers the gift, however, you must receive it. "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." (John 1:12)
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20)

What does it mean to receive the FREE GIFT? "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9-10)

Your part in obtaining eternal life is to receive. To have eternal life just confess: "I know that I am a sinner, and that Christ died for my sins. I know that He rose again, and I now receive Him as my Saviour, trusting Him to forgive all my sins, and to give me eternal life, as He has promised in His Word.

I Gladly confess Him as my Saviour and my Lord.
