"HERE AM I, LORD"
By Harold Stoddard
Mark 16:15: "And he said unto them,. Go ye into
all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."
Isaiah the prophet had a vision and in his vision a Seraphim
took a live coal from off the altar (with tongs),
and laid it upon the mouth of Isaiah. "And he laid it upon my mouth,
and said Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken
away, and thy sin is purged." --Isaiah 6:7 KJV. Then the call came
to Isaiah "Whom shall I send and who will go for us?" Then
Isaiah said, "Here am I, send me" -- Isaiah 6:8. Having answered
the call, Isaiah is given a task most blessed -- to announce the coming
of the Messiah, Jesus Christ -- Isaiah 7:14-- "Therefore the Lord
himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and
bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." Also, he was given
a very difficult task, for he must announce the coming judgment against
the unfaithful nations. The people would hear but not understand and
would see but not perceive.
Some things have not changed much from Isaiah's day until now. -- Matthew
22:14 "For many are called, but few are chosen." The call
rings out today to all who belong to God by faith in Jesus Christ, "Go
ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."
Mark 16:15. So many (all who believe) are called to go, but few answer
the call, and so many who profess to answer the call today are not faithful
to the very Word of God. By various means, they seek to make the Word
deny Jesus Christ; and Satan has given great opportunity to all who
seek to please men rather than God. He has gone back to his original
means of deceit that he used in the Garden with Adam and Eve, changing
God's Word just enough to deceive. The world calls it "new versions"
-- I call it blashemy. Whatever you may call it, surely it is of Satan
for many 'new versions' deny the deity of Jesus Christ and corrupt the
faith of many.
Faithfulness is required to serve Christ -- "Moreover
it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful." I Corinthians
4:2. So today, if your sins have been purged by the blood of Christ
and your mouth annointed by the very Word of God, would You answer the
call? There will be blessings and there will be suffering as you will
enter into the battle between God and Satan. But be assured that Jesus
Christ won the WAR on the Cross, but there are many BATTLES yet to be
won before the victory becomes a practical reality.
If you are not saved, the invitation of Christ is still open for all
sinners for He says, "Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy
laden and I will give you rest" --Matthew 11:28. If you are a Born
Again Christian, let me challenge you to answer God's call to service
even as Isaiah did, "Here am I, Lord, send me".
Mark 16:15, "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world and
preach the gospel to every creature."
